Entropia Universe Version Updates

This archive preserves the complete history of Entropia Universe Version Updates, documenting the technical evolution of the platform and the development of its virtual worlds. Each update represents a snapshot in the ongoing transformation of the universe, from early system foundations and gameplay mechanics to major graphical upgrades, planetary expansions, and platform milestones.

The release notes collected here provide insight into how the real-cash economy virtual universe has evolved over time — including engine transitions, interface redesigns, new systems, balance adjustments, and community-driven improvements. Together they form a chronological technical record of the changes that shaped Entropia Universe from its early years to the modern era.

Use the search function to explore specific Version Updates, locate historical features, or trace how particular systems and mechanics have developed across different eras of the universe.

Some recent Version Update release notes are temporarily unavailable due to the ongoing PlanetCalypsoForum outage, which historically served as a primary archival source for Entropia Universe VU documentation.

VU 18.7.1 October 23, 2024
Entropia Universe 18.7.1 Patch Notes
Greetings Entropians,

As we work to enhance your experience in Entropia Universe, we're excited to share the latest updates in Version 18.7.1. In response to your feedback, we've improved our Immersive NPCs and significantly expanded their map knowledge.

New Features
  • Immersive NPCs response times have been optimized for faster performance
  • Immersive NPCs now handle multiple requests regarding creatures, locations, and more
  • Immersive NPCs now handle generalized and "fuzzy" questions better, allowing them to respond to a wider range of inquiries. This makes it easier to ask about nearby creatures, locations, teleporters, and more without needing exact details. For example, you can now:
    • Ask about nearby creatures to hunt in the area or in general
    • Request multiple waypoints to different locations
    • Find new teleporters, cities, villages, and similar points of interest around the map
    • Inquire about the closest locations to a specific object or area
    • Ask where you can repair your items, TT items, auction items, and other services
    • Find out about teleporters that you haven’t unlocked yet
    • Request multiple lists of locations, such as the 10 nearest creatures to your current position or 10 creatures within the surrounding area
  • Expanded NPC Senses range: 1–2.5 km for creatures/terminals and most of Calypso for map locations

Fixes
  • Resolved issue with NPCs being slow or "tired." Responses are now faster, even for complex queries

Additional Notes

Each Immersive NPC has unique capabilities and areas of expertise; some focus on Entropia’s history, lore, or immersive storytelling, while others assist and guide, focusing on helping you find creatures, locations, teleporters, other NPCs, or world objects.

While most interactions should be accurate based on the data we've provided, occasional inaccuracies or incomplete responses may occur due to the nature of the technology we are using. We are continually refining the system to enhance reliability and reduce such issues in the future.

We're actively seeking your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve your experience. As we move forward, we'll expand NPC coverage across Calypso, ensuring that one or more NPCs cover every creature location, teleporter, map point, and terminal.

When an NPC gives out directions for creature locations, they do not track the current location of every creature in the game. Instead, the information provided is for the area where the creatures spawn. You may only sometimes find the creature at the exact waypoint the NPC offers, so make sure to search the nearby area.

We will continuously refine the AI system to make the AI answer more accurately.

Entropia Universe 18.7.0 Pre-Release Notes

S.E.N.S.E Update?

We are excited to present the "S.E.N.S.E" update, a new chapter for Entropia Universe, where our Immersive Companions take a bold step forward. These Immersive Agents are now more aware of their surroundings and can engage in more thoughtful and lifelike interactions, making them feel more dynamic than ever before. With new senses and contextual understanding, these companions will offer more immersive experiences as they engage with players and the world around them.

Chat Bubbles: A New Way to Connect
Immersive Companions can now actively engage with you through chat bubbles that draw your attention and suggest conversation topics based on what they’ve learned from your previous interactions. These greetings are personalized, considering the agent’s personality and your history together, creating a deeper sense of connection and engagement.

AI_NPC_Willard_Warrens_Chat_Bubble.jpg

Enhanced Conversational Skills: Fluid and Adaptive
The conversational abilities of these agents have been greatly improved, allowing for smoother, more natural dialogues. Each Immersive Companion adapts to your one-on-one interactions, making conversations feel personal and responsive. Rather than just offering help, they now focus on creating meaningful exchanges ranging from casual to informative. Some may still assist directly when asked, but they are more likely to engage you in conversations that feel alive and reactive to your input.

S.E.N.S.E Sensory Environment and Neural Synchronization Engine
For the first time, Immersive Companions have been given Senses—a level of environmental awareness that allows them to understand where they are and what’s around them. They can now reference their exact location, nearby terminals, creatures, and other important game elements. These new senses make conversations richer and more useful, as companions can help you navigate the world, point you toward key locations, or discuss the environment around them in a natural and informative way.

Autonomy in Interaction: Conversations with Character
While these agents still aim to help, they now exhibit a degree of autonomy in their actions. They might choose to assist you in finding a waypoint or opt to keep the conversation going instead. Their personality traits influence their responses and behaviors, meaning each interaction will feel different depending on the Immersive Companion you're speaking with. They won’t just be generic NPCs offering directions—they’ll respond based on the rapport you’ve built and the situation at hand.

Clickable Links and Waypoints: Seamless Navigation
In-game interactions are more dynamic now, with Immersive Companions offering clickable links to locations, waypoints, and items. Whether setting a waypoint to a repair terminal or pointing you toward a landmark, these companions are equipped with practical knowledge of the world to make your exploration smoother. All of this is done seamlessly, based on their understanding of the world around them.

AI_NPC_Richard_Melville_Question.jpg

Memory and Context: Conversations That Evolve
Immersive Companions now maintain a memory of your interactions, making conversations more fluid and continuous. They can recall previous chats and bring up past topics, creating an ongoing dialogue rather than isolated encounters. This memory creates a more cohesive and personal relationship with each companion, allowing for deeper engagement.

Knowledge Retrieval: Expanding Their Expertise
With improved access to the knowledge base, Immersive Companions can now provide more accurate and detailed information about Entropia’s lore and general game knowledge. Their answers will continue to become more comprehensive with future updates, making them valuable sources of in-game information, especially as their database of knowledge grows and evolves.

Enhanced Personalities: Unique and Lifelike
Every Immersive Companion now has a distinct personality that comes through in interactions. Whether they are reserved, curious, or outgoing, each companion behaves in a way that fits their unique character. Conversations will vary based on their traits, making each interaction feel different from the last. You’ll notice this distinctiveness in their responses, tone, and the way they engage with you.

Unreal Integration
Everything we do in this update will seamlessly transfer to our upcoming Unreal integration. The current and Unreal clients are designed to run simultaneously, allowing players to transition between them without disruption. All the advancements in the S.E.N.S.E system and Immersive Companions will carry over, offering the same lifelike interactions and dynamic experiences regardless of which client you're using.
