Each update represents a snapshot in the ongoing transformation of the universe, from early system foundations and gameplay mechanics to major graphical upgrades, planetary expansions, and platform milestones.

FIXED ISSUES

New and Reintroduced Systems

  • Item customization is back
  • If someone else aims at you, he or she will see a selected profession title below your name and society
  • Decoys are working again
Performance Improvements

  • Improved view distance calculations to increase performance and reduce popup
  • Added a Safe mode setting level to Graphics-Options-General Graphics Quality, all Graphics-Advanced dropdown menus, and to the Client Loader, that conserves graphics resources as much as possible
  • Adjusted all the other graphics setting levels to improve performance
  • If another avatar is too distant to be drawn, items carried by that avatar should no longer be drawn either
  • Improved performance by better distance-dependent handling of animation, inverse kinematics, physics et cetera for other players’ avatars
Item Issues

  • Rotation of an item in Item Info is no longer restarted when the item is equipped
  • Mining Survey UIs are now rendered on the display of the object even when the window is hidden
  • Left hand inverse kinematics is now turned off when holding a sword in relaxed pose, so the left hand is no longer twisted inside the body
  • Logging on with an avatar wearing a face mask no longer causes wrong appearance of the face
Graphics Issues

  • Added blurry reflections support
  • Fixed bug that caused wrong avatar appearance when logging in at a populated areas
Location Issues

  • The interior of Crystal Palace should no longer become invisible when you teleport there
  • Interior textures of the domes should now always be loaded when teleporting from Calypso to a dome
  • Fixed issues with indoors shopping booths
  • Items with a condition of less than 1 pec can now be dropped inside the owner’s own estate
Teleport Countdown Issues

  • Pressing alt-tab out of fullscreen mode while waiting to be teleported to revive terminal no longer freezes the countdown window
  • Fixed bug where death teleport timer was not reset to 10 seconds when killed while waiting for teleport to nearest revival terminal
Miscellaneous Issues

  • It is again possible to add friends to Guest list on estates

RESETTLEMENT UPDATE

After a slight delay due to the heavy traffic to Crystal Palace, the auctioneers have arrived and auction service at Crystal Palace can resume. In addition, Dome 4 is now completed and opened to the public.

The tech crew assigned to service the Oyster Island teleporter reports that it is now back online and that it indeed was not offline because of Wastelander sabotage. There is no cause for alarm.

  • Tower on Crystal Palace have got a paint job
  • Aligned claim maker at Outback Land Area 33 to ground

RESETTLEMENT UPDATE

Imperial Zoological Scouts have noticed further evolution of the fauna of Calypso: several of the creatures have developed new noises. Scientists believe that this may be from selective pressure from colonist hunting activities. As creatures producing ordinary noises attracted more attention from hunters, individuals producing dissimilar noises gained evolutionary advantage, and now dominate the population.

The Billgren Deer mall has been rebuilt but is not yet open to the public. A formal re-opening ceremony will be held in the near future; time and date for this will be announced.

Finally, Crystal Palace Space Station is back. Having served as a refugee camp for the thousands of colonists evacuated in the World-Fire, Crystal Palace have been extensively refurbished, and almost three months on the day after the Resettlement began, the space station is again open to the public! Please note that auctioneers have not yet arrived to Crystal Palace, so the auction service is not available there.

Transport to and from the space station will be serviced by the temporary interplanetary teleporter service. A one way ticket is 25 PED. NOTE: this is a temporary solution.

There is an unknown fault in the Oyster Island teleporter, making it impossible to teleport there. Technicians are on route to fix the problem. The problem is not caused by sabotage from Wastelanders. Please remain calm.

NEW DISTRIBUTION


  • New client download system allowing for download using either the regular download from server or using Bittorrent DNA. EULA for Bittorrent DNA is available here: http://www.bittorrent.com/legal/bittorrent-dna-eula
  • Major performance and structure upgrades to prepare EU for new planets
  • Content is no longer distributed as a lot of small files, but as a small number of .pak files
  • The majority of the content files are now encrypted to increase security; unfortunately, this upgrade requires a re-download of the affected content
  • Total disk file size considerably reduced, allowing future patches to download faster

  • Several sounds and special effects are missing
  • Missing some textures on the towers and some objects at Crystal Palace
  • Logging out at Crystal Palace may place the avatar on top of the roof when logging back in
  • Some objects misaligned to the terrain
A patch for VU10.3 is being finalized, which will address the Known Issues, above. The patch will be released in a few days time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • It is no longer possible to select more than one loot mode when forming a team

Navigation Issues
  • Fixed issue with auto-running being aborted if you start it by double-clicking on the sky and then move the mouse
  • Jumping should no longer stop auto-run
  • Rotating direction with right mouse button should no longer stop auto navigation
  • Now you will still be moving if you use left + right mouse button to move and release one of them

GUI Issues
  • Fixed issue with a friend being shown as offline even if online, if you have dragged out a status bar
  • Map can again be placed at the far left/right of the screen
  • Fixed issue with strange red lines in Land Area Welcome Message
  • Tab and Esc keys should now work correctly in Society log GUI

  • Skill gain and global HoF now have different effects
