Like a lot of new players, it didn't take long for me to want a shortcut. I was tired of grinding away with the absolute bare minimum, so I opened up the web store and swiped my card for one of the official Starter Packs.
When that gear hit my inventory, I felt like an absolute high-roller. I had a shiny new weapon, some actual armor, and a decent stack of Universal Ammo. Suddenly, I felt like I had completely outgrown the "noob" phase. I looked at the stats on my new gear and thought I was ready to take on the world.
The Great TT PurgeWith my new arsenal equipped, I opened my inventory and looked at my old starter gear. Sitting right there taking up space was my trusty Bukin's Rifle and my VIVO S10 healing tool.
In my infinite wisdom, I told myself, I have premium gear now. Why on earth would I keep this low-level junk? I marched straight over to the nearest Trade Terminal (TT) to declutter. Without a second thought, I dragged the Bukin's Rifle, the VIVO S10, and the rest of my basic starter kit right into the sell window and clicked confirm.
I expected a little bit of pocket change for my trouble eventhough i saw a warning. Instead, I got absolutely nothing. Zero. Zilch. Because they were account-bound starter items, they had a 0.00 TT value. I didn't sell them; I essentially just deleted them into the void for the sake of a "clean inventory."
The Healer's DreamAfter running around testing my new gear for a bit, I realized the standard combat grind wasn't entirely my style after nearly depleting all my ammo and shrapnel. I decided I wanted to pivot and become a healer and earn some PEDs because i saw people offering healing services for tips + decay in chats. It seemed like a fun, specialized career path.
I opened up global chat and asked the veteran players for advice on how a brand-new player should go about starting their medical career.
Every single person in the chat echoed the exact same piece of advice: "Just use your VIVO S10! It is hands down the absolute best tool for newbies to start skilling their healing professions."
The Sinking FeelingMy stomach instantly dropped. I stared at the chat window, realizing the gravity of what I had just done. I had to type out the shameful admission that I had TT'd my VIVO S10.
The Trade Terminal had given me literally zero PED for that tool, but now, trying to buy a comparable low-level healing FAP from other players on the auction house was going to cost me actual PED. My genius inventory management hadn't just yielded zero profit, it had completely derailed my new career before it even started.
The Moral of the Story: > Never, ever feed your free starter gear to the Trade Terminal. You get absolutely zero PED for account-bound items, and you never know when you might need them.
A clean inventory isn't worth the regret when you realize you just threw away the single best starter item for your dream profession into the void!
