Development log - today added a new appreciate button for the stories page

Today focused heavily on refining the Entropia Museum Events and Stories systems, including major mobile layout debugging, new interaction features, and additional historical archive content.

Events Page Mobile Layout Fixes

A major responsive layout issue affecting the Events page was finally isolated and resolved after extensive debugging. The issue was traced to a white-space nowrap rule inside the featured event and stat blocks which prevented widgets from properly collapsing on smaller screen sizes. Additional mobile stacking improvements were added to featured event sections to improve readability and visual flow on mobile devices.

History and Roadmap Timeline Formatting Rules Finalized

The timeline systems for both the History and Unreal Roadmap pages were standardized to use a single paragraph structure with double line spacing instead of multiple separated paragraph blocks. This resolved major spacing inconsistencies and large expansion gaps within history detail containers. This formatting structure is now the permanent standard for future timeline entries.

May 2026 Timeline Entries Added

New May 2026 historical entries were added covering the latest Synth developments and the new Shop Search system. Matching entries were created for both the general History page and the Unreal roadmap timeline.

Automatic Event Schedule Injection System Added

The event creation system was improved so that event start and end dates are now automatically injected directly into the first event content section during event creation and editing. This removes the need to manually duplicate scheduling information inside event articles.

Story Appreciation System Added

A new Appreciate system was implemented for Museum Stories. Unlike traditional social media style likes, the system was designed to fit the Museum atmosphere using a more respectful archival style interaction model.

Features added include:

Dedicated story appreciations database table

AJAX appreciation system

Logged-in member requirement

Prevention of duplicate appreciations

Dynamic appreciation counts

Member appreciation display tracking

Dedicated Museum seal appreciation button design

Museum Seal Appreciation Button Created

A custom transparent background Appreciate seal button was designed using the Entropia Museum visual style and color palette. The design was intentionally styled more like an archival seal than a modern social media reaction button.

Stories Page Interaction and Mobile Fixes

The Stories page received extensive debugging and interaction fixes, including:

Resolving click conflicts between story cards and appreciation buttons

Fixing AJAX routing issues caused by htaccess rewrites

Correcting pointer and cursor behavior on story cards

Mobile layout refinements for appreciation sections

Large story stress testing and formatting cleanup

Legacy Guide Program Story Restoration

A large historical story related to the original Entropia Universe Guide Program was cleaned, reformatted, and preserved for the Stories archive. The entry underwent multiple formatting passes to remove problematic legacy formatting and improve compatibility with the Museum story rendering system.

Stories System Stress Testing

The new Stories system underwent extensive stress testing using extremely large story entries to identify edge case rendering issues on mobile layouts. Additional considerations are now being explored regarding maximum story length limits and future dedicated full story viewing pages for very large submissions.
